Development Area Initiative
This NJDEP program helps communities affected by multiple brownfields
to design and implement -- in coordination with property owners
and redevelopers -- plans for remediating and redeveloping such

Redevelopment Incentives
New Jersey's Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Act
provides for a variety of financial incentives, including reimbursement
of up to 75% of remediation costs, making grants to those using
innovative cleanup technologies, and exemptions from property
taxes for up to 15 years.
Remediation
Loans and Grants
New Jersey's Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund provides
loans to private parties and municipalities (and grants to municipalities)
for investigation and remediation activities. The fund is administered
by NJDEP with the assistance of the N.J. Economic Development
Authority.

NJDEP maintains a list of brownfields sites, searchable by location
and size, that allows redevelopers to identify suitable sites

Reimbursement
of Cleanup Costs
Under the Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Act,
a developer that enters into a redevelopment agreement may potentially
recoup up to 75% of the cleanup costs for the property. Agreements
are sugject to the approval of the New Jersey Commerce and Economic
Growth Commission, the Department of Treasury and NJDEP.
New
Jersey Affordable Green Program
The New Jersey Affordable Green Program (NJAG) offers technical
and financial assistance to encourage the use of green technologies
in New Jersey’s homes. The program is administered by
the New Jersey Green Homes Office and coordinates with the New
Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) Balanced Housing
Program to provide additional funds up to $7,500 per unit to
integrate green/high performance features and requires NJ Energy
Star certification. Additionally, the Green Homes Office offers
grants for the use of renewable energy technologies, such as
solar electric and hot water systems.
